fast fast fast
is the only way to describe the new bike. big thanks to les and curt for helping me piece together the little bits and pieces before riding it down at jmu. I had a great time riding 3.5 hrs with kevin, grant, and dan on friday. even though grant had us take a loop that put us out about an hour and a half longer than if we had just gone over the shallow side of hopkins gap. but it was lots of fun. then on saturday at (7:30am - thanks jakob) i went out and did reddish with jakob and andy. a fantastic reunion of roommates from a few years ago. we cruised up for the most part, until jakob decided to turn up the screws in the last half mile or so. but that was also a bitchin ride, we couldn't have asked for a more clear day to be at the top of the mountain. but the best part was that the gracious gods of the george washington national forest decided to finally repave the entire climb. to those of you who remember the old reddish knob, the loose gravel and gnarly 18 inch wide divots and sinkholes have ceased to exist. i wish that one of us had a computer on our bike, because my conservative estimation is that we were toppin around 55-60mph through some of the turns. you get to the bottom and are amazed because your forearms aren't sore anymore from breaking so hard. i capped it all off with going for an hour and a half ride out to keezeltown and back solo on sunday. other than riding, i had a phenomenal time getting some qt in with erin, catching up with friends, and running into a few people (some i was stoked to have run into, others not so much). i realized how horrible i am, and always was, at beer pong. i ate way too much delicious tailgating food. and i am looking forward to heading back down next weekend to burn through a fantastic 5 day weekend. lets hope the weather is nicer down there than up here.
the week has been pretty mellow since i got back. i am almost done with all of my christmas shopping already. thank you dick's for 50% off coupons. i ordered a gore-tex paclite wind/rain jacket online last week and it came in yesterday. if you are thinking about purchasing it, i highly recommend it. this jacket is one of the best rain/wind jackets made and for the money, will keep you comfy and dry in some of the worst conditions.
time to suit up and show this saddle sore who's boss. enjoy the halloween weekend.
ps: jakob, take off your reflectors
